Background of The Network Training Centre

In 2005 - with the intention of setting up a Women’s Training Centre, and funding support from the Ministry of Community Development Culture and Gender Affairs among other donors - the Network acquired space in the Professional Center in Woodbrook Trinidad and Tobago.

The purpose behind the acquisition of this property was to provide a space, which will house a Women’s Training Centre, with facilities for a library and for holding conferences, workshops etc., and other activities and events. This National Center will also be a center of excellence for women’s access to and use of information and communications technology.

The Objectives

At present there are no organizations offering training in the areas proposed either in Trinidad and Tobago or in the region. The Centre will work in collaboration with the Ministry of Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs and other government Ministries and agencies eg Ministry of Public Utilities and the Environment, Local Government, Social Development as well as private sector including civil society organizations and networks to achieve its goal. The objectives are:

  • To establish a self sustaining training facility as a centre of excellence for women at a standard which will qualify for accreditation with the National Accreditation Council
  • To build the Centre’s training capacity for a range of human enrichment and community development courses
